Our Story
Fred Huntsinger 1894 – 1986 Founder · Est. 1934
Fred Huntsinger was a man who kept going through tough times.
Born in Wisconsin in 1894, Fred made his way to California where he raised his family of five kids and started businesses that didn't hold. He had known failure and profound loss, including his first wife and his oldest son, a pilot who gave his life serving his country in World War II. But Fred was built from something that outlasted hard times.
In 1934, at 40 years old, he began raising turkeys on his small California ranch. Word spread quickly not through advertising, but through taste, through trust, through neighbors telling neighbors. Families lined up at the ranch every holiday season to bring a Huntsinger turkey home.
Fred married his second wife Mable, and together they welcomed a sixth child, building a new chapter on California soil. He built Huntsinger Ranch® on honest work, faith, and uncompromising standards and the community felt it.
When Fred passed in 1986, his sons Curtis, Sheldon, and Peter carried that same standard into the next generation. Today, Fred's grandson Pete runs Huntsinger Ranch® the same way his grandfather, his dad, and uncles always did. With honest work, quiet pride, and no shortcuts.

How Our Turkeys Are Raised

By federal regulation, no turkey can contain added hormones or steroids and Huntsinger Ranch® Turkeys has always exceeded that standard. Our turkeys are not raised with shortcuts because we never have. Our nearly 100 year reputation was built on that commitment and we intend to keep it.
